ABSENTEE VOTING
All voters are now qualified to vote absentee under the “State of Emergency” reason.  Voters are reminded to apply early for ballots.  Application for absentee ballots can be requested online at www.scvotes.gov, in-person at the office, by mail, email or fax.  Applications for absentee ballots must be received by the Voter Registration and Elections Office by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24th if submitted by mail.  Applications submitted in-person or by an authorized representative acting on behalf of a voter who is unable to go to the polls due to an illness or disability must be received by the office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30th.  
 
Voters with absentee ballot applications on file at the Hampton County Board of Voter Registration and Elections Office are being mailed absentee ballots September 24th and 25th.   A court has ruled that voters do not need a witness for their ballot to count. However, it is possible this court ruling could change. The public will be notified of any changes to the witness requirement through the media and at scvotes.gov.

Absentee in-person voting at the Voter Registration and Elections Office will begin on Monday, October 5th at 8:00 a.m.  Voters must present the following valid photo ID:  
S.C. Driver’s License
S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles Identification card
S.C. Voter Registration card with a photograph 
Federal Military identification card with a photograph
U.S. Passport

Absentee in-person voting will end at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2020.

Voters may view their sample ballot at www.scvotes.gov.
